The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap

12 Dec

I’m a bad blogger, I forgot to tell you guys that I was participating in this beautiful event.

But what is the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap? This “event” was the brain child of Lindsay at Love and Olive Oil and Julie at The Little Kitchen. It goes a little like this: Receive the addresses of three food bloggers. Bake three dozen cookies and send one dozen to each of the aforementioned food bloggers (perhaps bake an extra dozen to keep at home too, so your family doesn’t feel left out, like mine did when I told them to keep their grubby paws out of my cookies). Receive three separate dozen cookies from three other food bloggers (to make up for not sharing the cookies I made, I’m sharing mine with my family – but you don’t have to if you don’t want to). Blog your recipe, and about the delicious goodies you received.

Sounds good right? It is! Here’s what I made:

Egg Biscuits (My great grandmother’s recipe)
Makes approximately 6 dozen

  • 5 C flour
  • 1 C milk
  • 1 1/4 C sugar
  • 1 C vegetable oil
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp anise extract
Beat eggs.

Sift flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.  Add to eggs.

Add oil, flavoring, and milk. Mix well.

Take out of bowl and set on floured board for 5-10 minutes.

Roll dough between hands and place in circle on cookie sheet.  Sprinkle dough/hands with flour to keep dough dry.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes (Until lightly browned on bottom)

1/2 C confectioners sugar
1 T milk
Colored sugars (optional)

Mix confectioner sugar and milk. Frosting should be very thick. Dip the top of the cookies into the frosting and sprinkle with colored sugars, if desired.

And there you have it! One of my fave cookies, we only make them in my family at Christmas.

Try some for yourself, you will love them!
